| Bio: Sara Goldenthal - Vocals Sara Goldenthal started singing around the same time she took her first steps. Throughout her childhood and adolescence, she performed in talent shows and coffeehouses. As a college student and young adult, Goldenthal established herself as a singer and guitarist while performing soul and funk with the band "Antigravity" as well as original music with various groups. In 1995 Goldenthal began to explore jazz and by 2000, she had produced a three song CD. That same year, Goldenthal embarked on a tour of both coasts, accompanied by bassist Ezra Rugg. Goldenthal and Rugg went on to join with guitarist Chris Poulin to form the jazz trio "RED", which also produced a CD. In 2002 Goldenthal joined guitarist Dave Clarke and the two soon formed the trio ERDASA with bass player Eric Davis. Goldenthal has been featured on radio broadcasts in addition to her long-term engagements at Rockland's "Market On Main" and Brunswick's "Starfish Grill." She is a sought-after performer for events in the Midcoast Maine area, such as the Belfast Summer Nights music series and Belfast by the Bay New Year's Celebration. Sara Goldenthal is currently living and performing in Portland, Maine. She is focusing on jazz by reinterpreting standards in her unique and soulful way. Eric Davis - Bass Eric Davis studied piano and trumpet and started playing the acoustic bass in high school. Eric formed a jazz combo and performed at wedding receptions while still a high school student. Eric and his trio landed a steady gig just out of high school, playing three nights a week at the Hearthside Lounge in Waterville, Maine for two years. Over the years, Eric has played with numerous other groups, ranging from duos to big bands, and he has worked with pianist Micky Felder, guitarist Pierro Brovaronne, and more recently with clarinetist Stan Catell. A highlight of Eric's musical career was the opportunity to play with the late legendary jazz guitarist Tal Farlow. Eric met Sara and David in December 2002 and has been playing regularly with them ever since. He resides in Rockland with his wife, Laura. David Clarke - Guitar David's music career started with the gift of a ukulele and music lessons for his third Christmas. He took up the clarinet in earnest during 5th grade and also learned to read music. A move to private school in 8th grade spurned a new desire to learn guitar. During weekends at home he learned to play jazz chord rhythm with his father, a jazz guitarist and teacher, while continuing to play clarinet and saxophone in the school stage band. David performed throughout junior high and high school with rock & roll bands while he continued to study music. He graduated early, and during his "senior" year joined the Air Force Band. For the next four years David played in rock and jazz ensembles and traveled the United States, the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Guam, and Hawaii. David returned to Belfast from his tour of duty to open "David's Music," which was in operation for 10 years. He also formed and performed in many local groups: DC-3, winner of the Belfast Bay Festival Battle of the Bands three years running; Tonto Lavec, The Firewalkers, Status, Faceplant, The Elevator Pilots, The Sound Chex, Spork (or its alter-ego: Billy Rhythm and the Uptown Rhythm Kings), and the Bel-Isle Trio. David continues to perform in jazz and rock ensembles in midcoast Maine, and is a self-employed web designer, computer consultant, and private music instructor. |
